Ryan Bench is a student athlete from Fonthill who is a member of the Welland Bullettproof Baseball 18U team. He proudly volunteers throughout the fall, winter and spring months after school and on weekends to assist with indoor programs at the BP Sportspark in Welland. Ryan truly enjoys helping young baseball players train and develop their skills in fielding, catching, pitching and hitting. His dedication and hard work at the indoor sports facility earned him the Youth Leadership Award in March 2014 presented by former MLB player and owner of BP Sportspark, Scott Bullett.
Since the age of nine, Ryan has worked extremely hard developing his game of baseball under the direction and coaching of Scott Bullett. Throughout his years of training and playing on Scott Bullett's elite travel baseball teams, Ryan has travelled to many high level tournaments across the United States. Summer after summer, Ryan enjoys representing Bullettproof Baseball travelling and playing in numerous cities in North America.
In August of 2013, Ryan continued his journey playing baseball and attended his first MLB Showcase. There, Ryan was flattered to receive positive feedback and interest from Major League scouts and American Universities.
In September 2013, Ryan proudly represented Team Ontario at Roberto Alomar's Tournament Twelve at the Roger's Centre in Toronto, which featured top Canadian baseball talents. Being called from the bullpen to take the mound at the Rogers Centre and throwing two scoreless inning in relief is an experience Ryan will never forget. Ryan looks forward to attending upcoming Baseball Showcases, including a stop at Duke University in Raleigh, North Carolina and a second appearance at Tournament Twelve in Toronto this coming September.
