Samantha is a 17 year old who currently is in grade 12 at Saint Paul High school. She participated in Jiu jitsu since she was 8 years old. So when she reached grade 9 she decided to join the schools varsity wrestling team. At first she was the only female and had to work very hard to gain the respect of her teammates but soon she started placing in all the tournaments she competed in. Soon she had offers to join club teams in order to wrestle at the provincial and national level. In her third year of wrestling she placed 2nd in ZONE a regional tournament which includes competitors from Niagara Falls to Beamsville. She moved on to SOSSA a tournament for all of southern Ontario and finished in 1st place. This meant she qualified for OFSAA a tournament for the best wrestlers in the whole province. After competing the first day she moved on to the second day of competition and finished in the top 10 of all Ontario. She plans to wrestle at the varsity level at Guelph University next year. She also has completed her brown belt in jiu jitsu and teaches the sport.
