Zyra Edwards is a 23-year old student athlete and recent graduate from the University of Guelph. Zyra graduated with a Bachelors of Arts and Science with minors in Biology and Criminal Justice & Public Policy while competing as a varsity rower.
Zyra started rowing at the University of Guelph in her second year. She quickly fell in love with the sport and after a season of novice, she was selected to join the varsity team. While at the University of Guelph she competed at both provincial (OUA) and national (CURC) championships. Her most notable achievements were medaling at the OUA championships in the women's four, and winning the Crew Cup for being a part of the top performing crew for the women's team. While at Guelph, Zyra was an active volunteer with the Student Athlete Mental Health Initiative, St. John Ambulance, and the Office of Human Rights and Diversity. During the summers she has competed with the St. Catharines and Guelph Rowing Clubs, medaling in various regattas.
Zyra is excited to have received a postgraduate athletic scholarship for rowing at Durham University, United Kingdom, where she will be pursuing a Master of Science in Defence, Development and Diplomacy beginning this fall.
