Ava is a level nine gymnast aspiring to National level. She is a 12-year old student at St. Vincent de Paul School. Ava started gymnastics at the age of five at Quantum Gymnastics in their recreation program. After her first practice, she stood out and her coach encouraged the competitive coach (Shannon Dawe) to have a look at her. She was immediately placed in the competitive program and worked with girls her senior. Over the years, Ava has accumulated numerous awards and recognition for her standout skills on beam, bars, vault, and floor.
However, her journey has also entailed many injuries. She has learned to overcome the obstacles and perservere. She tore her patella tendon and chipped a piece of her kneecap which required modified training and therapy. That put her behind almost a full year, but true to her personality, she perservered and moved up three levels that year. Ava made Team Ontario 2017, but unfortunately just prior to competition, she broke her elbow, thereby forfeiting her spot. After working hard in therapy and keeping an optimistic attitude, Ava continues to thrive. After recovery, she attended a competition in Tampa, Florida, and placed 1st overall.
Ava continues to work hard towards the next level!
