Rachel Wagner

Rachel Wagner is a 19-year-old student-athlete born and raised in Niagara on the Lake. She currently attends Brock University where she is enrolled in the Nursing program and plays for the Women’s Lacrosse Team.

Rachel grew up doing competitive gymnastics and recently switched to playing lacrosse after her brothers, Ryan, and John Wagner, who currently play in the National Lacrosse League for the Las Vegas Desert Dogs and Philadelphia Wings convinced her to switch to the sport that runs in the family. She began playing field lacrosse with the St. Catharines Athletics in the summer and quickly developed a love for it. She went on to play for the Brock Badgers. Rachel sustained a right ankle injury in the first tournament and was out for the rest of the season. She has been receiving treatment from Niagara Orthopedic Institute since and is incredibly appreciative of the team’s knowledge, expertise, and support so that she can return to play even stronger next season.

She is honored and thankful to receive the Robert Dionne Feature Athlete of the Month. She believes that embodying the traits of leadership, integrity, hard work, and dedication in all aspects of life comes with being a good athlete. She gives a special thank you to Emily for the nomination and her ongoing care.
